my instrument of course in my opinion is really unique. i called it the hubbada hubbada mainly because it looks like nothing that i know and make this kind of squeky sound when it is being played although the tone quality is great. i got the idea when i was visiting north carolina and saw these guys playing a glass bottl, well i had these party blowers at home and i tried a couple of ways to put it in the bottle and got this high pitch hubbada hubbada. the volume however isnt all that great and it takes alot of breath to play the notes and the resonance is resonably high, after all it is in a bottle.
first lets start with the problems and the things i did to make this instrument. like any instrument the hubbada hubbada was a bit of a challendge, the party blowers didnt get out as much air so i couldnt make a one mouth peice kind of horn. i ended up cutting holes in a plastic bottle and putting them in there at different place that made the sound differences.
ofcourse i had help my dad cut the holes and i put them at the intervals. thankfully i didnt have to make any of my own materials for this instrument and found them just around the house. the materials were really simple a knife, plastic bottle, party blower , and tape. i also had my brother paint it for me and he did a pretty good job on a moments notice. i had to improvise on some of the party blowers and put each of them at a different debth to make a clearer sound. but overall this wasnt my best work, materials were limited, just like time but i still managed.
the hubbada hubbada is played really interestingly in the fact that its almost like a bagpipe. there are multiple mouth peices that you have to blow in and that causes the differences in the pitch and makes the noted. to make a higher volume you simply let in more air or blow harded you can also make rythms not by just blowing at different intervals but by opening the top of the bottles and tapping out the tune, eich interestingly enough works. the sound waves in this instrument travel through the party blowers and the length whatever it may be to the top of the bottle and out.
i liked this sound projrct because we could express our imagination and learn about sound waves. although next time i would change alot of things infact i would probably make a whole new instrument, first of i would use only one mouth peice instead of five, and have a pipe or something more straight, and then finally i would make it use alot less air so it can be eaily played.i learned though that the smaller the straighter an object is the easier it is for the sound to travel of all my trials i ended up with still not such a straight one but it still is easier than the failiers
